About Teun

Teun van Dongen is an independent national and international security expert and a lecturer in Comprehensive Security at the Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Previously, he worked at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS), a think tank in the Netherlands. During his period at HCSS, he has been seconded to the Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism. Teun regularly writes for academic journals, newspapers and international affairs magazines. He holds a PhD degree from Leiden University, which he gained by writing a doctoral dissertation on counterterrorism effectiveness. Currently, he is using the insights he derived from his PhD-research to write a book about why people commit terrorist attacks.
